CHICAGO, IL – MARCH 3, 2015 – ConnectedHealth, the provider of the industry-leading benefits marketplace, and Educational & Institutional Insurance Administrators (EIIA), a not-for-profit organization that provides extensive insurance and risk management services to member colleges and universities, today announced the launch of My Benefit Basket™, an online health insurance and benefits platform for the higher education community. A co-branded version of ConnectedHealth’s award-winning Smart Choices™ Marketplace, My Benefit Basket is available to EIIA members nationwide.
My Benefit Basket will assist higher education faculty and staff in evaluating and selecting health insurance plans and other ancillary products – including dental, vision, life, disability, and accident coverage from national and regional companies – based on their personal preferences and financial goals.
My Benefit Basket will first launch to non-group eligible seminary students and their dependents and spouses. The new portal is fully integrated with the federal marketplace, helping students determine if they qualify for a tax credit, which they can then apply toward the cost of qualified health plans. Other groups will be brought onto the platform later this year.
“Our members recognize the value of their employees and want to provide benefit solutions that meet the needs of their faculty and staff,” said Siri Gadbois, CEO of EIIA. “Our partnership with ConnectedHealth and the launch of My Benefit Basket makes that goal a reality with an intuitive and consumer-friendly system that simplifies the benefits selection process for employees and students, while making the administration for HR staff more efficient.”
“Like other employers in the U.S., the academic community faces the challenge of rising healthcare costs for its staff, students and their family members,” said Joe Donlan, President of ConnectedHealth. “Our new partnership positions EIIA as a forward-thinking organization that is helping its university and college members take control of benefits costs and attract top talent to grow their institutions.”
